{theqoo} HYBE criticized for BTS Jin's Hug Event eligibility requirements. Fans told: "Buy another album."

Pic not included.

This is a summary of Xports News Reporter Lee Chang-gyu

BTS's Jin will resume his celebrity activities after his discharge from the army on 12 June. His first event will be a Hug Event for his fans held on 13 June.

Fans have had mixed reactions to the eligibility requirements to apply for the event:

1. You must be a member of ARMY

2. You must have purchased albums released after Proof (2022) through the Weverse shop during the application period (2 June -6 June)

Fans were upset by this because the whole point of the event is to celebrate Jin after his military discharge. Jin's only released one solo single before enlisting, 'The Astronaut'. Fans feel that Jin's solo work will be overshadowed by the other members' solo albums, which his fans will be compelled to buy, and that having to buy an album at all to be eligible reduces his solo work.

Also, fans who own these albums already have been told that those albums don't count as only albums purchased the application period (2 June-6June) qualify. Fans are accusing HYBE of turning the event into a money making tactic.

-I'm not surprised because HYBE is HYBE.

-Hugging 1,000 people...? Isn't it too much money and abuse of artists?

-The company is turning something that Jin started with good intentions into controversy again.

-I'd rather have a fan meeting. The management team is so clueless.ã…

-You're so talented to throw shit like this together as an anniversary event, HYBE

-I think Hive is showing very clearly what they think of idols and fans these days..

-Fans are just wallets.

-It must be so frustrating to be asked to sell stock albums as your first event after being discharged from the military.

-This is something only a small or mid-sized company would do.

-There must be a lot of stock that needs selling ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

-I'm afraid that other agencies will follow suit.

-I hope BTS leaves ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

-Real fans are viewed as ATMs. I think we should boycott them.

-No, Seokjin said he was hugging with good intentions, but Hive is ruining it.

-I hate HYBE so, so much. They're clueless idiots.

-I left because of the company. I became so frustrated that I couldn't stand it anymore. My wish is to see the company go bankrupt.

- ARMYs, come to your senses now. Boycott is the answer.
