이 친구들이 어릴 때 끼는 많고, 연예인 되고 싶고, 아티스트가 무슨 개념인지는 모르고, 큰 회사라 일단 들어온 거고, 시스템이 어떻게 돌아가는지 모르고 꼬맹이들이 일단 들어온 거다. 제일 중요한 건 얘네를 어떻게 가르쳐 주고 어떤 인간으로 만들어주는지가 제일 중요한 거다.
멤버들에게 얘기하는 게 계약 기간동안 우린 공부하는 거다. 좋은 선생님들을 붙여주고. 7년 동안 다음에 먹고 살 수 있는 일을 공부를 해라. 언제까지 나랑 있을 거냐. 언제까지 누구 밑에 있을 수는 없고, 머리가 굵어지면 자기 걸 하고 싶어질 거다. 그러면 그때 자유로운 선택을 할 수 있게, 왜 좋은 부모가 되려면 지금 당장 다 해주는 게 아니라 먹고 살 수 있는 연습을 해줘야 하는 것처럼."
Translation: The vision shared between NewJeans and myself is simply to live happily.
These girls, during their youth, possessed a plethora of talents, aspired to become entertainers without understanding the true essence of being an artist. They joined a large company, oblivious to how the system operates, merely being youngsters who joined on a whim. The important aspect lies in how we educate them and mold them into individuals.
What I convey to the members is that during the duration of their contract, we are here to educate them. We provide them with exceptional mentors. Over the course of 7 years, they should study something that can sustain them in the future. How long will they stay with me? They cannot remain under someone else forever, and as they mature, they will naturally desire to pursue their own paths. Therefore, when that time arrives, they can make choices freely, akin to why being a good parent entails not providing everything instantly, but rather fostering the ability to sustain themselves.
