Netflix under fire for ill-judged mistranslation in K-Drama 'The 8 Show'. Knetizens + Netflix respond.

-Netflix has addressed concerns about the use of "Sea of Japan" instead of "East Sea" in certain subtitles for The 8 Show, stating "We are currently in the process of correcting it."

-The issue arose when netizens noticed a scene with Ryu Jun-yeol singing the national anthem inaccurately labelled the body of water in Latin American(Spanish) subtitles.

- Professor Seo Gyeong-deok, who initiated this and prior correction requests against Netflix, stressed the importance of addressing cultural sensitivities globally. "The name of the sea between Korea and Japan has been called ‘East Sea’ since 2,000 years ago. I urge you to correct it as quickly as possible so that viewers around the world do not misunderstand."

- It's our national anthem, how dare they purposely do that?

- "Too many traitors everywhere."

- It clearly seems deliberate, but there are just too many damn excuses.

- "On top of that... it's a boring show."

- "Let's boycott."

- "Is it possible to make a mistake like that?"

- How can such a blunder occur in a Korean production, not even a foreign one? It's ridiculous, especially in our national anthem LOL"

- "Now I'm wondering about the Japanese subtitles."

- "Unbeknownst to me, I've apparently become a Japanese citizen."

- "Professor Seo-Gyeong-deok has done so much. I'm grateful."
